the curation standard

WellCat is an editor, not a retailer.

We hold fewer than sixty products.

Each meets a need that cannot be addressed through environmental change, respects feline instinct, or is backed by clinical evidence.

Here's what earns a place..

nourish

feed stages, not ages.

WellCat organises nutrition by clinical stage, not labels like “kitten”, “adult”, and senior:

Development: Building dietary resilience in growth
Nourishment: Maintaining health and stability
Support: Managing specific conditions or life changes

This reflects what cats actually need at different points in their lives, not arbitrary age brackets.

WellCat stocks only Royal Canin and Hill's because these manufacturers fund research, publish clinical data, maintain AAFCO feeding trial standards, and provide therapeutic diets when indicated.

You will not find ingredient-marketed foods (grain-free, exotic proteins, "natural" labeling). Ingredient lists are marketing. AAFCO feeding trials are clinical standards.

Feeding equipment: WellCat does not stock feeding equipment. Cats eat best from flat ceramic plates at ground level. Fresh water should be available daily in multiple locations throughout the house in glass or ceramic containers filled to the brim. Specific setup guidance is provided through INSIGHT rather than selling equipment.

protect

protect early, not urgently

WellCat stocks three parasite prevention products: Felpreva, NexGard Spectra, and Bravecto.

All three cover paralysis ticks.

This is deliberate. Paralysis ticks are not found everywhere in Australia - but WellCat does not stock non-tick products because the risk is too high. A cat owner in a tick-endemic area purchasing a product without tick coverage means inadequate protection and potential illness or death.

By stocking only tick-covering products, WellCat eliminates this risk entirely.

Felpreva is the primary recommendation for adult cats. It provides three-month coverage for fleas, heartworm, hookworm, roundworm, ear mites, paralysis ticks, and tapeworm. Three-month duration means fewer applications. Tapeworm coverage eliminates the need for separate worming tablets.

NexGard Spectra is for kittens. Monthly application allows dosing adjustment as kittens grow rapidly. It is also safe for breeding, pregnant, and nursing cats.

Bravecto is for cats outside Felpreva's weight range, providing the same broad-spectrum coverage with different dosing options.

WellCat does not stock multiple brands beyond this or non-tick alternatives because product choice in parasite prevention creates clinical risk, not benefit. The wrong selection can mean inadequate protection.

insight

follow instinct, not folklore

Cats are ancient creatures living in a modern world. Their needs remain unchanged, but our understanding of them often doesn't. INSIGHT teaches observation - noticing what's actually there, not what you expect to see.

Follow instinct, not folklore.

WellCat provides veterinary guidance to sharpen observation - helping you understand your cat through the lens of instinct and clinical reasoning:

Skool Community - Ongoing veterinary orientation teaching you what to notice and how to interpret it.

Subscription Tiers - Ongoing relationship as your understanding deepens (A Well Cat Life, Insight).

Veterinary Conversation - One-time guidance when observation reveals something requiring assessment.

Comprehensive Case Review - Written assessment for complex situations requiring research and detailed reasoning.

These structures exist to teach observation - guided by instinct, grounded in veterinary science.

ease

care. achieved

WellCat stocks only evidence-based products under EASE - avoiding the extensive supplement market that prioritizes marketing over clinical research- and provides enrichment guidance rather than selling toys.

Cooperation tools: One pill popper (safest design), one nail clipper (only needed when nails damage), Churu treats (for medication administration, not as treats).

Physical comfort: 4Cyte for arthritis management - palatable, liquid form, evidence-based.

Stress management: Feliway (environmental pheromone), Royal Canin Calm (daily dietary support), Zylkene Plus (flexible capsule for short or long-term use). These address different causes and durations—but environmental assessment remains primary. Most feline stress is solvable without products.

Play and enrichment: WellCat does not stock toys. A feather found outside tied to a string engages stalking instinct through scent, texture, and unpredictable movement—modern materials ignore these needs. Technique matters more than object. WellCat provides play guidance through INSIGHT rather than selling toys.

WellCat exists to remove noise.

The products here meet clinical standards, respect feline instinct, or address needs that cannot be met through behavior or environment alone.

Everything held at WellCat has earned its place.
