protect early, not urgently
Cats rely on us to remember what they can't ask for.
Parasite prevention isn't glamorous. It's repetitive, boring, and it only works when it's done on time.
In paralysis tick areas of Australia, a missed dose can become something serious — not just inconvenient.
That's why WellCat sets a high bar for what it's willing to recommend.
Consistency, not urgency, is protection.
why we don't stock everything
WellCat doesn't stock every parasite treatment.
Every product we do stock protects against paralysis tick.
This is deliberate. We don't want someone to choose parasite protection from WellCat believing their cat is protected, only to discover that an important risk has been left uncovered.
From there, we look for broad, appropriate protection that is simple to maintain.
Fewer choices. Simple protection.
why Felpreva is our first choice
For most adult cats, Felpreva is where we start.
It protects against paralysis ticks, fleas, roundworm, hookworm and tapeworm — in a single spot-on treatment.
It also lasts for three months. Fewer applications make protection easier to maintain, while the broad coverage means most cats won't need additional routine parasite treatments.
It's not our recommendation for kittens, or for cats who are pregnant, nursing, or part of a breeding program — NexGard Spectra is the better fit there. For cats over 8kg, we recommend Bravecto Plus. The following quiz will guide you to the right option for your cat.
Broad protection. Less often.
which protection suits your cat?
A number of factors affect which options are available for your cat: age, weight, whether they are pregnant, nursing, or part of a breeding program, and whether they go outside.
Answer a few simple questions about your cat and we'll guide you to the option we recommend — or, for some cats, recommend speaking with a veterinarian instead.
already know what your cat needs?
If you already know which parasite protection your cat is on, you can buy individual treatments or set up repeat delivery.
